Writing the Next Chapter

To continue driving Massachusetts to a leadership position within life sciences, in the spring of 2021, President Turner and the MLSC team engaged KPMG’s life sciences team as a project advisor to develop a strategic framework.The MLSC looks forward to finalizing the strategic framework process this fall and engage a multitude of partners across the life sciences to integrate the recommendations of the strategic assessment.

Project objectives:

Clarify MLSC’s core value proposition to help ensure that MLSC remains in a strong position to support economic development and job growth in the dynamic life sciences industry in Massachusetts
Develop a succinct statement of the strategy and priorities for MLSC leadership

Project scope:

Understand and align on current MLSC perspectives, objectives and in-going hypotheses
Survey of members from the Massachusetts life sciences community to identify gaps, unmet needs, opportunity areas for growth in the Massachusetts ecosystem, and possible role for the MLSC
Take account of competitive initiatives of other key states
Apply a lens of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion to the focus areas

The pandemic has demonstrated the value of the life sciences, but I think it has also revealed to us gaps and challenges we need to address. We continue to need to think of new ways to strengthen our ecosystem. The timing is right to reaffirm the MLSC purpose and vision to ensure we remain in a strong position to support economic development and job growth in the dynamic life sciences industry.”
